Keep Calm and avoid Imperialism

Hola amigos! Happy Thursday!

Today we wrapped up our case study of British imperialism by discussing some of the effects of technology on imperialism and imperialism's effects on Africa, China, and India. Your reading of Chapter 32 in your WHAP book will give an overview of not only British imperialism, but French, Dutch, and some others as well. We hope that through studying British imperialism specifically you were able to get a good grasp on some of the motivations for imperialism, such as Social Darwinism, how these powers imperialized, and long-term effects of imperialism. We'll continue to study imperialism next week as well!

Don't forget to break out your Things Fall Apart copy if you have one or to go buy one if you would like your own to annotate in! For everyone else, we'll be issuing class copies tomorrow and beginning the novel, with all the yams and chi you could ever want.

She really frightens me.

For all my sciencey people or anyone who wanted to know more about North Korea's claims from today's CE article, here's an interesting diagram that the New York Times posted explaining the sciences behind these different bombs. In some of our classes, we were mentioned how Dennis Rodman and the Harlem Globetrotters went over to North Korea to play basketball after Kim Jong Un, an avid basketball fan, asked them to come. On one of Dennis Rodman's trips, he decided to sing Kim Jong "Happy Birthday"...please watch this video to see his EXTREMELY awkward rendition. I think Dennis Rodman should stick to basketball.

Today's photo of the day comes from Gallivare in Sweden. You guys are all deer to my heart, so I thought this was obvious choice for a photo.

Squad goals.
Sorry, that pun was awful. BUT check out that fog...

Have a wonderful day, loves!
