I'm so sorry I didn't post yesterday...Google stopped working? I don't know. I actually think it was just the PISD internet since the world is still spinning.
Yesterday in class, we experience the first of many things we will do throughout the year:
1. Current Events. By the end of the year, you will be a fount of knowledge about all the haps in the world, from American politics, to international conferences, to (if you're lucky) gladiator gatorade. If you need help, let us know, BUT DON'T FORGET THEM! Almost every Monday and Wednesday evening, you should be reading a current event!
don't let this be you |
Today we finished the schism. On Monday, we will be back in our regular rooms! Freshmen, the sophomores will be happy to share all their wisdom on how to be successful with you then!
You have no homework this weekend (OMG youarewelcome), so consider maybe knocking out that humanities experience....Here are some ideas!
- Tonight, you can see the music of Beethoven, Hayden, and Mozart at Bass Performance Hall
- This weekend, go see Bye Bye Birdy performed by the Repertory Company Theater in Richardson
- Check out the DMA, Nasher, Crow Museum of Asian Art, or Kimbell's general collections
- On Sunday, SMU professor Stefan Engels, is performing for free at SMU's Caruth Auditorium.
So onto this day in history? Sure, why not....
- 1847: Liberia was proclaimed an independent republic.
- 1920: The 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote went into effect. YAY YAY YAY, Mrs. Garafola <3's this.
- 1974: Aviator Charles Lindbergh, the first man to fly solo & nonstop across the Atlantic, died.
- 1978: John Paul I became Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. He died one month later.
this is an awesome national seal |
