Humanitarians,

Today we wrapped up anything we didn't get to before and had a bit of time to study. DON'T FORGET THAT TOMORROW YOU HAVE A QUIZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!! There will be tutorials in the big humanities' room in the AM, so we will see you bright and early!

Decolonization

  • Who were some of the key leaders in the movement and how do they compare?
  • Explain the nature of decolonization in Latin America - what were some of their struggles? In the Middle East?
Globalization

  • What are some of the positive and negative consequences of globalization?
  • What are some cultural, political, and economic effects of globalization?
  • What are some of the emerging concerns with a growing global population?
Miscellaneous

  • What is genocide? What are some examples?
  • What is terrorism?
  • What are some examples of ethnic tensions in the late 20th century?

If you can answer these questions and know your study guide terms, you should be gold Ponyboy.

If you are out tomorrow, you WILL be taking your quiz upon your return.

This day in history:
  • 1598: The Edict of Nantes gave religious tolerance to the Huguenots in France.
  • 1742: Handel's Messiah was first publicly performed in Dublin, Ireland.

  • 1964: Sidney Poitier became the first African American to win the Academy Award for best actor. In The Heat of the Night, he plays a police officer in the South...the following scene is HUGE in American film because a black man slaps a white man back in the 60's!!

  • 1970: Apollo 13 announced "Houston, we've got a problem," when an oxygen tank burst on the way to the Moon.

  • 1997: Tiger Woods became the youngest person to win the Masters Tournament and the first of African descent to win a major golf title.
And my cover the day is the ever lovely T-Swift covering Mumford and Sons' White Blank Pages. Watch as Virdin's hipster head explodes with love...
