Is anyone else craving Indian food?

Today we dove headfirst into our first official unit - studying how Early Modern states consolidated power and expanded their empires. How about dem Mughals, huh? Hopefully your brain is filled with so much knowledge, you just can't even. Hey, remember that one time you killed your emperor's chief minister out of jealousy, so he threw you out of a palace window, but you didn't die, so he did it again? At least he had some nice swag with him on his way down. Anyway, this isn't the last we've heard of Akbar the Great...to be continued...

Today's PowerPoint was uploaded to our class website earlier today so you (1) can take a look at anything you might've missed and/or (2) have a copy ready for class on Wednesday when we finish taking notes over the Ottoman Empire.

We're now into the second week of school, so you're having to juggle multiple things for this class...you have a Current Event for tomorrow, reading out of the WHAP textbook for Thursday, and the newly assigned Map for September 14th.

If all of this is stressing you out, just take a deep breath, visit this website as a de-stresser, and get back to work.

Since my classes got to hear about my super adorable and sassy grandmother, I thought I'd post a picture of her, just for fun, of course. But technically my family is descended from the Mughals, so it's relevant for class...maybe? She likes eating paan, giving hugs and kisses, and mocking my inability to speak Urdu fluently.

No Homework Thursday

Humanities Peeps,

Ok, not any better, still working on it.

Today was the LAST day of the schism. Tomorrow, return to your room of origin, and prepare yourselves for seating charts. Sophomores, we will present our amazing posters to the freshmen, who I guess are now adequately prepared to spend a year with us.

A little additional hint, from your sophomore teacher. Always laugh at your teachers' jokes. Otherwise this face:

Finally, tomorrow, we are actually starting content. We will enter the Early Modern Age. YOU HAVE REAL HOMEWORK NOW, pages out of the WHAP book, which are due NEXT Thursday (in one week!). Also, I'm not going to lie to you, this is not a lot a reading. Don't let us down on the first one.

And finally, finally, tomorrow is Friday. Praise whomever you praise. I am exhausted. I'm sure you are too. Weekend couldn't come soon enough. You know what weekends mean....GOAT CHEESE MAN!

That's me and my Bffls and Keith the goat cheese man.

Enjoy your Thursday night, no homework style.

Shampoo is better! No Conditioner is better!

Humanitarians -

I'll work on the greeting. It's kind of lame, tbh. Humanitiesians? Humans? Humanitieses? Hm.

Moving on.

Today we continued with the Schism. Freshmen, you should be super stoked about the posters the sophomores made you!!! They, for the most part, are on point. Freshmen, what on earth are you doing in there?! Is Virdin just straight up giving you pep talks!? Of course she is.

Tomorrow we are in the SAME ROOMS as today. Go there. Sophomores, we are gonna finish the posters, go over your terms, and then some sweet writing practice. Freshmen, more Virdin pep talks for you!

ALSO DON'T FORGET....Real CE tomorrow! Migrants!

Ok, I leave you with this:

Remember why we are here! To prove we aren't fools!

Also, shampoo is better.

The Schism, pt. 1

Good Afternoon!

I'm sorry about forgetting to post yesterday. Every year, I forget how tiring the first day of school is (you're young, hopefully it wasn't as bad for you) and this was basically me at 4:30:

so I totally forgot to blog!

Today we began the first of many schisms, after going over the CE procedures (your first REAL one is Thursday!!) and terms we all need to know (also due Thursday!). Freshmen, I dunno what you are doing. Going over how to not look like George Michael as pictured above during Humanities, I think. Sophomores, tomorrow we are definitely moving into how to be helpful to the freshmen, so be thinking about how to take notes, use the books, do CE's, and Humanities Experiences and be prepared to pass on your infinite wisdom.

Reminders on rooms tomorrow:

1st, Garafola: 2032
1st, all freshmen: 2035
1st, Siddiqui: 2077
